Clinic Policies

Bear Street Family physicians Clinic is guided by the Health Information Act, the Health Professions Act, and the Occupational Health and Safety Act.  Our policies are created by management and physicians and are centered on providing our patients with accessible, safe, responsible health care.

Prescription refill policy

Please plan ahead and book an appointment for your prescription refill before you are out of medication (this can be a telephone appointment). This is NOT a waste of your provider’s time. There is a reason your medication ran out: your provider wants to follow-up with you before refilling it again.

If this is not possible, please still book an appointment as soon as possible (we are happy to be able to offer same-day or next-day appointments more often than not). Then, please go your regular pharmacy and inform them of when your appointment is. Most pharmacists will provide enough medication to last until your appointment.

No Show Policy

In a perfect world we would greatly appreciate 24 hours notice in order to cancel an appointment. This is so that someone else can be booked in this place. We also understand life happens and things come up unexpectedly. PLEASE call the clinic AS SOON AS POSSIBLE if you are not able to arrive for your scheduled appointment. You can also cancel appointments online via your patient portal.

Patients not showing up for appointments is an enormous waste of everyone’s time. If you do not check-in for your appointment, our staff will call you to follow-up. Each patient is given one “freebie” no show, however any subsequent no-show's will result in a missed appointment fee of $50 which must be paid prior to being rebooked at the clinic.

Mutual Respect Policy

The Provider, management and staff of Bear Street Family Physicians Clinic is committed to providing a work environment in which all workers and those we serve are treated with respect and dignity.   Violence, harassment, inappropriate conduct or abusive behaviour towards staff, physicians, caregivers, our patients and their families is not tolerated.  Anyone who experiences violence or harassment in relation to your dealings with Bear Street Clinic should notify management as soon as is practicable.  Anyone engaging in such behaviour may receive a written warning and/or be discharged from Bear Street Clinic.
